What makes a Kitchen warm and inviting? Typically, as many of us could recollect, the Kitchen was the place were everyone would gather. .. Many of us who grew up in New England would not be able to imagine not gathering around the Kitchen table and having many long conversations over a warm piece of apple pie, made with apples picked from our beloved grandparents orchards. . . .The love and fellowship with family and friends was what gave Kitchens of the past their warmth and romance. .. For the most part, they were not decorated heavily but were functional and a "work place" - a place to prepare food and then to gather and chat with one another in a quaint "keeping room forum. When my beloved Nana was here on earth, she was just so content and felt so blessed to put food on the table for us all, even if it meant that we all had a mis-matched place setting. . There was a joy and comfort that no amount of money or high end decorating could buy.  In fact, we believe that she helped to celebrate and keep a tradition alive by decorating in what is called ecclectic vintage style so popular today. . . . .
 
Today, we love to decorate our Kitchens. . by celebrating  our own unique  personalities by  adding  elegant and enchanting  findings along with the basic necessities and functional equipment.
The trend is not centered solely on functionality and personality but a desire to  make your own personal place  romantic and pretty and maybe add a touch of whimsy!
At Victoria Rose Cottage, we have hand painted roses canister sets by and serving pieces by Joye - perfect for the Shabby Cottage Style or Elegant Victorian or Old World Antique Style Kitchen. . . Try adding a Christie Repasy Giclee painting for upscale romance. . .Let's add a  few Country French, Paris Apartment and Tuscan style pieces - or combine the themes for an ecclectic mix style. . .Each theme can be romantic  when you add floral bouquets or paintings, soft rose strewn fabrics, lush floral wall coverings, a few selected nice linens and the warmth of enchanting candles or romantic Maura Daniel lamps with our shimmering one of a kind hand beaded shades.
